"Meet Me on the Mile," a new outdoor series presented by the Magnificent Mile Association in conjunction with the city of Chicago, will celebrate the city's reopening and support cultural institutions and local businesses through summer programming.

In addition to featuring free outdoor entertainment throughout Magnificent Mile plazas, the series will also provide pedestrians with access to parts of North Michigan Avenue closed to traffic one Sunday per month for the Sunday Spectacles, which run from August to October.

Starting July 22, "Meet Me on the Mile" will kick off with pop-up concerts from The Brian Patti Dixieland Dudes, who will play two sets from 4-6 p.m. at the Garden Plaza at 875 N. Michigan Ave., and Mariachi Ameca, scheduled to perform two sets from 5-7 p.m. at Pioneer Court, 401 N. Michigan Ave.

At each event in the biweekly Thursday Pop-Up Concert series, representatives from the Magnificent Mile Association will present offers from businesses in the area, as well as future programming lineups.

Upcoming events in the series include a "Music and Motors"-themed lineup on Aug. 15, which will feature classic motors on loan from Klarinmont Kollections at Tower Court, and musical acts such as the Chicago Bears Drumline, Mariachi Ameca and Gray Era Brass Band at a stage set up on North Michigan Avenue. In September, an event with a focus on "Mode, Marriage and Murals" will include a fashion show, alfresco dining opportunities, live marriage for pre-selected couples and more.

"'Meet Me on the Mile' will provide a series of creative activations that will help draw visitors back downtown to Michigan Avenue,” 42nd Ward Alderman Brendan Reilly said in a Magnificent Mile Association news release. “I look forward to welcoming tourists and visitors to the Magnificent Mile for family fun and entertainment this summer and fall."
